Today's favorite photo of 2017 comes from a little bridal portrait I did with Ashton and her mom. We met down at the Coquina Beach access in South Nags Head across from the Body Island Lighthouse. The waves were crashing and there was a wonderful breeze blowing from the West. So we decided to play around in the dunes. I added this photo to the list because of the quirky nature in which this was taken. As you see, Ashton is smiling and holding her veil... What you don't see is mom. "So, where is mom?" you might ask. Well mom was doing her best to make sure the wedding dress was always perfectly laying on the sand. However, she was fighting a loosing battle. Each time she put the dress down, the wind would take it. So it became a fun little "never ending" cycle. Mom would pick it up and put it down, the wind would pick it up and put it down. All the while Ashton watched while her mother, bent over, scurried along chasing after the train of her wedding dress. In true photographic fashion, "What the camera doesn't see, doesn't exist" and the smile on Ashtons face was beautiful. It just happens that she was smiling because of mom's antics. BTW, the beautiful way she's holding her veil is strictly to keep it from blowing around and up into mom's face. Hope you enjoy!
