OK dear reader,
So if you've never been to the Outer Banks, you may not know it, but a couple hundred years ago, a Spanish ship sank off the coast of the OBX. Big deal, right? Well, on that ship there were a bunch of men who presumably drowned and a whole lot of horses who survived. The government thought it was a good idea to turn a portion of the Outer Banks into a horse wildlife sanctuary (AKA, no road goes through it). However, they didn't say anything about building houses. Carova, in all its rugged awesomeness, has become one of the premier wedding spots for 4WD junkies and people who just wanna get away from it all.
This brings us to today's photo. As I mentioned, anything goes in Carova. This lovely wedding party got married on the beach just outside the biggest house you can rent in Carova, the Wild Horse. This place is made for weddings (go ahead, click on the link and check it out). After the ceremony and family formal shots, we asked the wedding party to make their way towards the breaking waves. As you can see, in Carova, the beach has such a gradual slant to it that the waves roll up for a long distance, creating this wonderful mirror effect. We took several shots, and yes, they were gorgeous. All of a sudden, one of the bridesmaids pointed down the beach and said, "Look!" We all turned our heads to see a powered parachute flying towards us. Surprisingly enough, the poor guy was tacking against the wind. In any case, he noticed us about the same time that we noticed him and started to try to go around us. The bridal party and I remembered that we were in Carova, and anything goes. We screamed at the top of our lungs and waved our hands saying, "Come on through!" I yelled, "Get ready, on the count of three, JUMP! One, two, three!"
